Backstreet Boys (often abbreviated as BSB) [3] are an American vocal group and boy band [4] consisting of Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, AJ McLean, and cousins Brian Littrell and Kevin Richardson. The band formed in 1993 in Orlando, Florida. The group rose to fame with their debut album, Backstreet Boys (1996).

Along with the rest of the Backstreet Boys, Richardson has made appearances on Arthur, Sesame Street, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, and This Is the End. During the Backstreet Boys' hiatus in 2003, Richardson went into acting. He played the role of smooth-talking lawyer Billy Flynn in the Broadway production of Chicago.
The Backstreet Boys continued to make music after Richardson’s departure, releasing “Unbreakable” in 2007 and “This Is Us” in 2009 before he returned in 2011.
