The district included Monterey and San Benito counties, most of Santa Cruz County, and portions of Santa Clara County. Before redistricting in 2011, the 20th district was located in the San Joaquin Valley. It covered Kings County and portions of Fresno and Kern counties, including most of the city of Fresno.
As of 2024, this district is the most Democratic-leaning congressional district represented by a Republican, with a partisan lean of D+5. [2] Following redistricting in 2021, the district is still in the San Joaquin Valley. It includes most of Kings County and parts of Tulare and Kern counties.
