The county seat of Ripley County is Versailles, Indiana. It was selected as the county seat in 1818, and was laid out in 1819. According to the 2010 census, the county has a total area of 448.06 square miles (1,160.5 km 2), of which 446.43 square miles (1,156.2 km 2) (or 99.64%) is land and 1.64 square miles (4.2 km 2) (or 0.37%) is water.
Laughery Township is one of eleven townships in Ripley County, Indiana. As of the 2020 census, its population was 5,090 (up from 4,736 at 2010 [3]) and it contained 2,108 housing units. [4] Laughery Township took its name from Laughery Creek. [5]
St. Paul Lutheran Church in Olean in 2007. Olean was laid out in 1858. [2] The community was named after Olean, New York. [3] A post office was established at Olean in 1844, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1905.
