The Deniliquin railway line (also known as the Bendigo railway line or the Echuca railway line) is a broad-gauge railway line serving north-western Victoria, Australia. The line runs from the New South Wales town of Deniliquin into Bendigo, before turning south-south-east towards Melbourne, terminating in Docklands near the central business district.
The entire line to Bendigo was originally constructed as double-track. As part of the Regional Fast Rail project, sections of the line were singled in 2006: the line is currently double-track to Kyneton, then single-track with crossing loops the rest of the route to Bendigo, Echuca, and Swan Hill.
The idea proved very popular and the Bendigo fleet has since increased in size. In 2005 a proposal was put forward to the City of Greater Bendigo to extend the tourist tram route around Lake Weeroona, however the plan met staunch opposition from the community and it was ultimately rejected putting the viability of the network at risk.
