The Truman Bulldogs are the sports teams of Truman State University, located in Kirksville, Missouri, United States.They participate in the NCAA's Division II and in the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC), joining the conference in 2013 after having been a member of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) since that league's creation in 1912.
The conference experienced steady growth through the first three decades of its existence, expanding from six members to sixteen. The first addition was Lewis University in 1980, followed in 1984 by Indiana University – Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW; the athletic program is now Purdue Fort Wayne), then Northern Kentucky University in 1985 and Kentucky State University in 1989.
2013 - Truman State (formerly Northeast Missouri State) left the MIAA to join the GLVC after the 2012–13 academic year. 2015 - Harding and Southern Nazarene left the MIAA as affiliate members for men's soccer, both effective after the 2014 fall season (2014-15 academic year).
On April 7, 2013, Drury won the Division II Men's National Championship in Basketball, defeating Metro State of Denver 74–73 after rallying from a 17-point deficit. The Panthers won their final 23 games of the season – a school record – to finish 31–4 on the season.

Truman State University was founded in 1867 by Joseph Baldwin as the North Missouri Normal School and Commercial College.Baldwin was a pioneer in education, and his school quickly gained official recognition in 1870 by the Missouri General Assembly, which designated it as the First District Normal School, the first public teachers' college in Missouri.
