Kabukichō (Japanese: 歌舞伎町, pronounced [kabɯki̥ tɕoː]) is an entertainment district in Shinjuku, Tokyo, Japan.Kabukichō is considered a red-light district [1] with a high concentration of host and hostess clubs, love hotels, shops, restaurants, and nightclubs, and is often called the "Sleepless Town" (眠らない街, Nemuranai Machi, pronounced [nemɯɾanai matɕiꜜ]).
Shinjuku Toho Building (新宿東宝ビル, Shinjuku Tōhō Biru) is a building in Kabukichō, Shinjuku, Tokyo, Japan. It features Toho Cinemas Shinjuku ( TOHOシネマズ新宿 ) , a theater run by Toho 's subsidiary Toho Cinemas , and the Godzilla head on the terrace of its Hotel Gracery.
Its placement on the Hotel Gracery terrace matches Godzilla's 50 meter height seen during the Showa era films in the franchise. [3] [4] The sculpture was placed as part of the ad campaign for the 2016 film Shin Godzilla. The sculpture was reveled on April 17 2015, where Godzilla was given the title of Shinjuku Tourism Ambassador.
The upper floors feature two hotels. Hotel Groove Shinjuku is located on floors 17–38. Bellustar Tokyo, a hotel by Singapore-based Pan Pacific Hotels and Resorts (at one time owned by Tokyu), lies on floors 39–47, offering a three-storey atrium restaurant on the building's 45th, 46th and 47th floor. Shinjuku Southern Terrace (Japanese: 新宿サザンテラス) is a commercial zone located at Yoyogi 2-chōme, Shibuya, Tokyo, at the western side of Shinjuku Station Southern Exit. It was built above the Odakyu Odawara Line , to the west of Takashimaya Times Square across the Yamanote Line , and to the south of Shinjuku Mylord.
Located in Shinjuku ward, the building was designed by architect Kenzo Tange. It consists of a complex of three structures, each taking up a city block. The complex includes shops, offices, an observation deck, and a parking area. Shibuya Scramble Square takes its name from " Shibuya Scramble Crossing ", the world-famous pedestrian crossing located just a few meters from the building.
