Miller Valley in Milwaukee, site of the Miller Brewing Company complex. Miller Brewing Company was founded in Milwaukee in 1855 by Frederick Miller after his emigration from Hohenzollern, Germany, in 1854 with a unique brewer's yeast. Initially, he purchased the small Plank Road Brewery for $2,300 ($82,280 in 2024). [3]
The company was one of six breweries involved in the 1953 Milwaukee brewery strike. In 1959, they became distributors for Tucher Brewery of Nuremberg, Germany. This was the first such relationship with a foreign brewer by an American brewing company. [citation needed] The company was sold in 1961 to Miller Brewing Company.
