Yaw-sensitive four-wheel steering was available as an option in Japan; Mazda claimed that with this feature, the Millenia was capable of passing the elk test at speeds comparable to the BMW 850i and ...
The Amati 500 is the only Amati vehicle to actually go on sale in the United States. When the Amati brand was cancelled in October 1992, it was already entering production for the Japanese and international market as the Eunos 800. It would go on sale in the United States in early 1994, where it was sold as the Mazda Millenia.
Eunos (ユーノス, Yūnosu) was a marque of Japanese automaker Mazda, marketed as its upscale, fun to drive line. The brand existed in Japan from 1989 to 1996, when sales operations were integrated into ɛ̃fini , and Australia from 1992 to 1996, when it was integrated into the main Mazda model range as a premium sub-brand.
1989 Eunos 300 (Mazda Persona MA platform) 1992–1993 Eunos 500 (Mazda Xedos 6 CA platform) 1993–1996 Eunos 800 (Mazda Millenia TA platform) 1990 Eunos Cargo (SS platform) 1990–1991 Eunos Cosmo (Mazda Cosmo JC platform) 1991–1993 Eunos Presso/Eunos 30X (Mazda MX-3 EC platform) 1989–1996 Eunos Roadster (Mazda MX-5 NA platform)
This vehicle was not sold in the United States and Canada. The total quantity of Xedos 6 and Eunos 500 manufactured is 72101. By 1994, there was a larger model called the Mazda Xedos 9, which was of a similar size to the BMW 5 Series. The Xedos 9 was marketed as the Eunos 800 in Japan and Australia, and as the Mazda Millenia in the United States.
The ɛ̃fini marque was a luxury-oriented brand, as opposed to the more mainstream, fun to drive Eunos brand, traditional Mazda, and entry level Autozam. The vehicles sold did not comply with Japanese government exterior and engine displacement regulations which classed all vehicles sold as ɛ̃fini as exclusive luxury products.
The initial Amati range would have included the Amati 500 (which became the Eunos 800 in Japan and Australia, Mazda Millenia in the U.S., and Mazda Xedos 9 in Europe), a rebadged version of the Mazda Cosmo and the Amati 1000 (a rear-wheel drive V12 competitor to the Lexus LS400 [47]). The Amati brand was eventually scrapped before any cars hit ...
When Mazda launched the Eunos dealership channel in Japan for 1990, launched on 1 November 1989, the Persona became available with Eunos 300 badging. [5] Unlike the Persona, the ostensibly sportier Eunos version came with an ashtray and a lighter, as well as a different grille with a "V"-pattern rather than the fine mesh of the Persona.
