A dean's list is an academic award, or distinction, used to recognize the highest level scholarship demonstrated by students in a college or university. This system is most often used in North America, [ 1 ] [ 2 ] though institutions in Europe, [ 3 ] Asia, [ 4 ] and Australia [ 5 ] may also employ similar measures.
An envoy of De La Salle Brothers arrived in 1910. [4] More than a century ago, the De La Salle College (DLSC) was established as an exclusive all boys' elementary and high school. [5] The pre-war grade school and high school departments of DLSC were finally dissolved in 1968 and 1978 respectively.
But with the new tool, college leaders hope those numbers go even higher — potentially seeing 12,000 to 13,000 community college students transferring to the four-year system.
