Hake Yachts, also called Seaward Yachts, was an American boat builder based in Carmel, Indiana. The company specialized in the design and manufacture of fiberglass sailboats. [1] [2] [3] The company was founded in 1973 by boat designer Nick Hake, a graduate of the Milwaukee School of Engineering. [1] [2] [4]
Among the early products were camper shells and producing canoes for Sears. The company eventually focused its development expertise on sailboats and became Glass Marine Industries (GMI), marketing their boats under the Columbia nameplate. Early models included the Columbia 24 and Columbia 29 (Sparkman & Stephens design).
C&C 25 Mk I C&C 25 Mk I or 25-1 This model was designed by C&C Design and introduced in 1973. It has a length overall of 25.16 ft (7.7 m), a waterline length of 20.67 ft (6.3 m), displaces 4,300 lb (1,950 kg) and carries 1,900 lb (862 kg) of lead ballast.
The boat is normally fitted with a small outboard motor of 7.5 to 15 hp (6 to 11 kW) for docking and maneuvering, although a Yanmar inboard diesel engine of 9 hp (7 kW) was a factory option. The fresh water tank has a capacity of 40 U.S. gallons (150 L; 33 imp gal).

In a 2010 review Steve Henkel wrote of the design, "best features: The Beachcomber has a 1,400 pound grounding shoe and an extremely shallow, 15-inch draft, so she can be run up on a beach or mud flats—plus a high-efficiency centerboard for going to windward.
