The Hillside Avenue Historic District is a 27-acre (11 ha) historic district located along Hillside Avenue in the city of Plainfield in Union County, New Jersey.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on June 1, 1982 for its significance in architecture, featuring Colonial Revival architecture.

The Plainfields are a group of three municipalities spanning the convergence of Somerset, Union, and Middlesex Counties in New Jersey, all of which have the word Plainfield in their name. They are the Borough of North Plainfield (Somerset County), City of Plainfield (Union County), and the Borough of South Plainfield (Middlesex County).
South Plainfield is located in the 6th Congressional District [47] and is part of New Jersey's 18th state legislative district [48] [49] [50] For the 119th United States Congress, New Jersey's 6th congressional district is represented by Frank Pallone (D, Long Branch).
