Upon Shah Jahan's orders, several executions took place on 23 January 1628. Those put to death included his brother Shahryar; his nephews Dawar and Garshasp, sons of Shah Jahan's previously executed brother Prince Khusrau ; and his cousins Tahmuras and Hoshang , sons of the late Prince Daniyal Mirza .
He performed several acts to prove his sincerity, including the execution of Burhan Nizam Shah, the installation of boy prince Hussain Shah as ruler, and the execution of a number of leading officers of the kingdom. Shah Jahan sent an assassin named Raz Bahadur to carry out the executions. Hushang, Tahmuras, Shahriyar, Dawar and Dawar's younger brother Garshasp were beheaded on the night of the 2 February 1628 (Baysunghar's final fate was not mentioned).
