In the original design, Cape Cod houses had the following features: symmetry, steep roofs, central chimneys, windows at the door, flat design, one to one-and-a-half stories, narrow stairways, and simple exteriors.
The houses, which were in the Cape Cod and ranch house styles, sat on a seventh-acre (0.06 ha) lot. They had 750 square feet (70 m 2 ) with two bedrooms, a living room with a television and a kitchen with modern appliances, an unfinished second floor and no garage.
It is one of the least altered 19th-century Cape style houses in the Cape Cod National Seashore, and an excellent early example of that style.
