An upgraded 17-car variant called the CR400AF-BS was introduced in April 2024 for use on the Beijing-Shanghai high speed railway from 15 June 2024. This variant features interior enhancements to accommodate more passengers and a new seating class called Premium First Class, which is intermediate between First Class and Business Class. [16]
