Wabanakwut "Wab" Kinew was born on December 31, 1981, in Kenora, Ontario.From the Onigaming First Nation in Northwestern Ontario, he is the son of Tobasonakwut Kinew, [4] a former local and regional chief and a professor of Indigenous governance at the University of Winnipeg, and Dr. Kathi Avery Kinew, a policy analyst.

Wab Kinew is the incumbent premier, since October 2023. On 7 December 2023, Louis Riel was granted the honorary title of "First Premier of Manitoba" after the Louis Riel Act received royal assent. [7] [8] As it is an honorary title, however, Alfred Boyd remains the official first premier of the province.
The current Minister of Infrastructure is Lisa Naylor, who was appointed to the portfolio on 18 Oct 2023 by the New Democratic government of Wab Kinew. [ 5 ] [ 6 ] Between 1871 and 1967, the portfolio (then titled Minister of Public Works ) held oversight over roads and government buildings. [ 19 ]
