Tuy Hoa Air Base was an air force base in Vietnam, being closed in 1970. It was built by the United States in 1966 and was used by the United States Air Force (USAF) during the Vietnam War in the II Corps Tactical Zone of South Vietnam .
The base was located approximately 5 km east of Highway 1 and 7 km southeast of Tuy Hoa Air Base. [1] The base was used by the 1st Brigade, 4th Infantry Division comprising: 1st Battalion, 8th Infantry [2] 3rd Battalion, 8th Infantry [2]: 139 1st Battalion, 12th Infantry [2]: 141 from October 1966 to June 1967.
Tuy Hoa Airport (IATA: TBB, ICAO: VVTH) is located just south of Tuy Hòa within the Phú Yên province, along the central coast of southern Vietnam. It was built in 1966 for the United States Air Force as Tuy Hoa Air Base. It was used by the U.S. Air Force (1966–70) and U.S. Army (1970-71), during the Vietnam War.
The battle occurred during Operation Rolling Stone, a major American security operation to protect engineers building a tactically important road in the vicinity of Tan Binh, in central Binh Duong Province, 30 kilometres (19 mi) northwest of Bien Hoa Air Base. The battle resulted 154 PAVN/VC killed and 15 captured and 11 U.S. killed.

For operations along the central coast and the Ho Chi Minh trail regions, Ranch Hand operated out of Da Nang Air Base (1964–1971). Other bases of operation included Phù Cát Air Base (1968–1970), Tan Son Nhut Air Base (1962–1966), Nha Trang Air Base (1968–69), Phan Rang Air Base (1970–1972), and Tuy Hoa Air Base (1971–1972). [23]
The following April, the 307th squadron moved to Torrejon Air Base, Spain and in November 1966, the wing received orders to deploy to Tuy Hoa Air Base, South Vietnam. The 31st wing arrived at Tuy Hoa, and was assigned to the 7th Air Force, on Christmas Day 1966.
