The Hameau de la Reine (French pronunciation: [amo də la ʁɛn], The Queen's Hamlet) is a rustic retreat in the park of the Château de Versailles built for Marie Antoinette in 1783 near the Petit Trianon in Yvelines, France. It served as a private meeting place for the queen and her closest friends and as a place of leisure.
The château has a separate private chapel dedicated to Saint Joseph, built in 1865. In the mid-19th century, it was visited by the French novelist George Sand, who described the area as "la vallée noire" (the black valley). It later became the hereditary property of the Marquises de Nadaillac.
The Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild, also called Villa Île-de-France, is a French seaside villa located at Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat on the French Riviera. Designed by the French architect Aaron Messiah , it was built between 1907 and 1912 by Baroness Béatrice de Rothschild (1864–1934).
