One is a carpet-padded 2X4 mounted low on the hand truck for the lower end of the motor to rest on when the stand is horizontal in my truck. The motor is too heavy for the motor mounting clamps alone to keep the prop off the hand stuck steel. The other simple additional component is a 2X4 "foot" projecting to one side up at the top of the hand ...
Apr 25, 2013. #12. In a pinch, you can screw a 2x6 to an open stud wall (across two studs) and hang a motor right on the wall. Or, screw a 2X6 to a single studs side, bringing the 2X6 outward (2 feet, or as needed), perpendicular to the wall, and either screw a 2x4 leg to the outer end, or use a single saw horse to support it.

Hardly more than Harbor freight, and maybe cheaper if labor has any value. Straight stands are under $100, angled stands just over.
104. Hunter 340 Narragansett. Jun 4, 2024. #1. I’m looking for a design for a sturdy, movable outboard motor stand. Preferably one that can hold 2 outboard motors. Mine are the smaller ones, 2.3 HP and 3.5 HP, about 30 - 40 pounds each. I would like to build one that I can wheel around my garage, and store them out of the way during the off ...
Sep 30, 2016. 356. Island Packet IP 44 Ventura, CA. Jan 14, 2017. #1. I needed a couple of outboard motor stands for the old and new outboards. Couldnt find any used and wasnt going to pay $80 or more for some flimsy and bulky stand. Im a strong believer in the KISS principle. Came up with this: 4 pieces per stand, and some good 2 1/2" screws.
Harbor Freight Shaper. 05-13-2010, 08:01 PM. Someone probably needs to talk me out of this. But I was thinking of building a router table and with the router, lift and table we are looking at almost twice the price of the 1 hp harbor freight router. Reading reviews it looks like this is one of the gems at HF and is like the old Delta 1hp shapers.
Macgregor 26d Ft Lauderdale, Fl. Aug 13, 2015. #3. if the sails are not up, and not at anchor, I would say the boat would need to be considered a power driven vessel. (assuming a boat too large to row/paddle). -especially for lighting issues. (steaming light on when sails are not up, ie.,waiting for a bridge).
Nov 24, 2013. #3. The first thing I would do is tie a rope around the engine, then cleat it off so that it can't go in the drink. Then, remove the gas line and any other wires, etc. to the engine. Next, loosen the clamps enough to clear the mount. Lean over the railing and grab hold, then lift it up to the rail.

4,638. Hunter 46 Point Richmond, CA. Mar 20, 2021. #2. Welcome to the forum!! You need approximately 1 HP per 550 lb of displacement or 4 HP per 2200 lb. Since the Hunter 23.5 has a 3000 lb displacement a 6 hp motor long (20") or extra long (25") shaft works. Other forum members may have experience with a higher hp motors on that sailboat.
