Preston or Preston Village is a suburb of Brighton and Hove, in the ceremonial county of East Sussex, England.It is to the north of the centre. Originally a village in its own right, it was eventually absorbed into Brighton with the development of the farmland owned by the local Stanford family, officially becoming a parish of the town in 1928.
As of February 2001, there were 1,124 listed buildings with Grade II status in the English city of Brighton and Hove. [2] The total at 2009 was similar. [ 3 ] The city, on the English Channel coast approximately 52 miles (84 km) south of London, was formed as a unitary authority in 1997 by the merger of the neighbouring towns of Brighton and Hove .
The village of Preston was established on a downland site 1.5 miles (2.4 km) north-northwest of Brighton before the time of the Domesday Book of 1086. [1] St Peter's Church was its original parish church.

St Mary's Church is a Roman Catholic Parish church in the Preston Village area of Brighton and Hove, East Sussex, England. It was built from 1910 to 1912 in the Arts and Crafts style of Gothic Revival architecture. It is situated on the Surrenden Road on the corner with Preston Drove opposite Preston Park.
The centre of Brighton is about 1.2 miles (2 km) to the southeast, and central Hove lies to the southwest. [2] Anticlockwise from the south, the boundaries of Prestonville are defined [note 1] as Seven Dials, Chatham Place, Howard Place, the Brighton Main Line between Brighton and Preston Park stations, Highcroft Villas and Dyke Road.
