It holds archives and local studies material for the County of Derbyshire and the City of Derby and Diocese of Derby. [1] It is situated in Matlock. The Record Office contains more than four miles of original Derbyshire records. [2]

[2] The county was organized February 25, 1845 [3] and named for General Johann de Kalb, [4] Baron de Kalb, of the Revolutionary War.
