I have started to get regular crashing of my Office for Mac products, particularly Outlook, since Mac OS Sierra updated from 10.12.2 to 10.12.3. Microsoft support have tried all the known workarounds without success, but as the problems started when 10.12.3 was installed I wanted to see if rolling back would fix the issue.

the problem appeared when I tried to update to 12.1. Talked with apple support, and the only apparent solution is to rebuild the OS. somehow my administration user became corrupted. So I have to get an external backup drive to back up everything, wipe disk. reload OS, then recover all my stuff from backup.

When I go to setting, it offers me to update to macOS Monterey 12.0.1. I go ahead and download the update and then prompts me to continue. Now it seems to be stuck at Checking "(null)". I have deleted the download, rebooted my machine, then redownloaded the via the Software Update and still getting the same result, it's stuck at Checking "(null)".
As promised, here is an update on the current situation with my Apple computer (macOS Sequoia 15.0.1) as described in my initial posting here of about a week ago, "Sequoia latest update wreaking havoc on system". I originally thought the problem I was having with the horizontal lines covering the screen was an update-related issue.
