All submitted poems will be considered for publication in The Georgia Review; any selected will be paid our regular poetry honorarium of $4 per line. Please note that students, faculty, staff, and administrators currently affiliated with the University of Georgia are ineligible for the LWPP.
Submissions must be sent either through Submittable between November 1 and January 15 or by regular mail postmarked within the same span of time. An entry should include either one short story or one essay. Only one entry per writer. Submissions cost $25.
How to Submit: You can submit work by the Submittable account or via post. There is a $3 processing fee for online submissions for non-subscribers. The Georgia Review does not accept unsolicited submissions during certain months of the year. Simultaneous submissions are accepted with the exception of book reviews.
The ideal essay for The Georgia Review is a provocative, thesis-oriented work that can engage both the intelligent general reader and the specialist. Dates: Open to nonfiction submissions through 14 May 2025* (approx. 174 days from now).
No submission fee is required. The Georgia Review pays all contributors; the current standard rates for our print issues are $50 per printed page for prose and $4 per line for poetry, up to $800. We pay a flat rate of $150 for book reviews.

While most book reviews are solicited by Georgia Review editors, submissions can be sent through their Submittable account. They accept standard reviews (typically 1750 to 2000 words) focused on a single book, as well as essay-reviews (typically 4000-6000 words) which develop a thesis surrounding multiple books for a broader thematic purpose.
