Route 53 is a state highway in the U.S. state of Connecticut, connecting the cities of Norwalk and Danbury.Most of the route has been made redundant by U.S. Route 7 (US 7), except for the last section from Bethel to Danbury, which is part of a direct route from the Bridgeport area to Danbury.
US 6 enters Connecticut paired with US 202 from the town of Southeast, New York, just east of the village of Brewster.The concurrency runs for 3.8 miles (6.1 km) through the city of Danbury as a minor arterial road before it forms a 3.3-mile (5.3 km) four-way concurrency with I-84 and US 7 from I-84 exit 4 to exit 7.
Sections of I-84 in Connecticut were reconstructed and widened from the mid-1970s into the mid-1980s. Another section through Danbury was widened from four lanes to six lanes in 1985 and 1986.
