Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) is a state-owned company with responsibility for developing, maintaining, planning, and managing airports in Ghana. It was registered in 2006 and presently manages airports such as Kotoka International Airport, Nana Agyemang Prempeh I International Airport, Tamale International Airport, Wa Airport, Sunyani Airport, Ho Airport and other airstrips in Ghana. Until the upgrading of the Tamale and Kumasi airports to international standards, KIA, for a longtime, was the sole international airport in Ghana. [4] In 2023, the airport served a record of 3.1 million passengers, a recovery from the 1.2 million in 2020 (reduced due to the COVID-19 pandemic). [1]

In November 2004, PNDC Law 151, was amended with the enactment of the Ghana Civil Aviation Act, 2004 (Act 678). The Act mandated the ceding of the airport management function of GCAA to a new entity to enable the Authority focus on its core mandate of regulating the air transport industry and providing air navigation services.

The cost of construction is estimated to be US$25 million, provided by Ghana Airports Company Limited.
