The Center for Air and Space Law at the University of Mississippi School of Law has been the premier U.S. platform for Air and Space Law since 1965. [1] It is the only American Bar Association accredited law school to offer an LL.M., a JD Concentration and a Graduate Certificate [2] in Air and Space Law. [3]

Bin Cheng (Chinese: 鄭斌; pinyin: Zhèng Bīn; Wade–Giles: Ch’eng Pin; 1921 – 16 October 2019) was a Chinese-born British legal scholar.An authority on international air and space law, he served as professor and dean of the University College London Faculty of Laws and honorary president of the London Institute of Space Policy and Law.

The University of Mississippi School of Law is also the only school in the US, and one of only a handful in the world, to offer a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Air and Space Law. [3] The School of Law opened in 1854 and is the fourth-oldest state-supported law school in the country. Susan Duncan was hired as the new Dean in the spring of 2017.
The first professor appointed to teach air law was Daniel Goedhuis in 1938. [1] A chair in air law was created in 1947 and extended to space law in 1961. [1] Professor Goedhuis held it until 1977. [1] His successor Professor Henri Wassenbergh was the catalyst for the creation of the current institute. [1]
