Tayana Yachts is a Taiwanese brand of fiberglass sailboats built by Kaohsiung-based Ta Yang company. Ta Yang means "big ocean" in Mandarin , and Tayana means "belongs to big ocean." [ 1 ] The yard was founded in 1973 and has built over 1,400 bluewater cruisers. [ 2 ]
The Tayana 37 is a Taiwanese sailboat that was designed by American Robert Perry as a cruiser and first built in 1976. [1] [2] [3] The design was originally commissioned by Will Eckert, of Flying Dutchman Yachts and C.T. Chen, of Ta Yang Yacht Building. The latter bought the rights to the design and commenced production as the CT 37.
C&C Yachts was a builder of high-performance fiberglass monohull sailboats with production facilities in Canada, Germany, and the United States. [5] In a 2000 used boat review Darrell Nicholson wrote in Practical Sailor, "the Pearson 30 is an active sailor’s boat. We find it responsive, and a pleasure to sail.
They relocated Paceship production to Connecticut in the United States, including the Paceship PY23 and PY26 sailboats. Paceship Yachts operated as a division of AMF from 1975 until 1981. The early 1980s recession impacted sailboat sales and, as a result, AMF sold the PY26 design and tooling to Tanzer Industries in 1981.
