Altamonte Mall is a super-regional shopping mall located in Altamonte Springs, Florida, United States, a suburb of Orlando. The mall features the traditional retailers JCPenney , Dillard's , and Macy's , in addition to an 18-screen AMC Theatres .
An interior renovation completed in 2002. In 2004, a new movie theater owned by Premiere Cinemas opened in the mall. Burdines became Macy's in 2005. In 2013, PREIT sold the mall to UP Development, Inc. for $35 million. The new owner has plans to redevelop the mall. [7] One year later a new bowling alley was added and the movie theater was rebuilt.
The mall was planned and developed by Belz Enterprises. It was originally planned to open in 2000, but the opening was delayed until 2002. [ 2 ] Initial plans called for the mall to be 1,100,000 square feet (100,000 m 2 ) in size, [ 3 ] but it was scaled back to 865,000 square feet (80,400 m 2 ).

Pointe Orlando originally opened on August 2, 1997 at a cost of $120 million, anchored by a flagship FAO Schwarz toy store. A Muvico cinema and IMAX theater, and a host of theme restaurants popular at the time opened later in the year and into 1998. [1]
The mall opened in 1964 and had Ivey's and JCPenney as the original anchor stores. [3] At the time, the JCPenney store was the second-largest in the nation. [ 4 ] A large section of the mall burned on Easter morning, April 6, 1969, in "the first major fire incident in the United States involving an enclosed shopping mall," [ 5 ] and was rebuilt.
