PIK-26 Mini-Sytky is a low-wing monoplane, conventional landing gear aircraft. Designed by the Finnish aircraft designer Kai Mellen. Its high performance allows it to cruise at 173 km/h while burning 7 litres/hour. Several aircraft of this design are now flying. The PIK-26 is mainly constructed from wood.
In its standard configuration, the aircraft is a true double-delta with no horizontal stabilizer; however, a small T-tail is an option for trimming variants with higher-power engines. Since the mid-1960s, designer John Dyke has sold full construction plans and three-view drawings for the aircraft to homebuilders and is still selling them today.
The Fieseler Fi 156 Storch (, "stork") is a liaison aircraft designed and produced by the German aircraft manufacturer Fieseler. Its nickname of Storch was derived from the lengthy legs of its main landing gear, which gave the aircraft a similar appearance to that of the long-legged, big-winged bird.
When aircraft design progressed beyond the stick-and-fabric boxes of its first decade of existence, the practice of lofting moved naturally into the aeronautical realm. As the storm clouds of World War II gathered in Europe, a US aircraft company, North American Aviation , took the practice into the purely mathematical realm.
The Playboy was the third of fifteen different aircraft designs created by Stits, who migrated in the 1960s from selling plans to developing the Polyfiber line of aircraft coverings and related paint formulas. [citation needed] The Playboy was designed to be constructed from either plans or from a series of partial kits.
The CAP-4 was originally developed by Empresa Aeronáutica Ypiranga as an unlicensed copy of the Taylor Cub powered by a Salmson 9Ad radial engine. It featured a high strut-braced wing, two enclosed tandem seats, and a steel-tube fuselage with fabric covering.
Aircraft of comparable role, configuration, and era Piper J-3 (not in same class (a certified airplane), but the aircraft that the ultralight-class J-3 Kitten imitates in miniature, at 3/4 scale. Kitten is much slower, and about half the power, volume and payload of the Cub, and a fraction of the Cub's weight.)
