Thanks for the info, I love the APEX feature of the 64 and that is a huge vote towards the 64. The biggest obstacle if the A8 or I guess now the N8 has a lot to offer for bass is the cost. If 64 does again offer the 20% BF sale that puts the N8 at $1360. UE is offering me 20% off as well which puts the 11 pro at $960.
Models I’m most considering: Ultimate Ears 11 Pro. 64 Audio A6T. Alclair CMVK or Spire. I am interested in your feedback and let’s get this thread rolling. Feel free to point me in the direction of other threads if relevant and recommend other models. I want plenty of headroom in the low end and as spatial as possible.
You might look seriously at Ultimate Ears. The EU-11 is a great IEM, they may still have the $300 Namm discount available. That puts them at about a grand. They take about 10days to make and have a money back guarantee that if you don’t like them, you can return them for a full refund.
The 3 brands I'm looking into are Alclair, 64 Audio, and Ultimate Ears. The ones I'm looking at from each company are as follows: Alclair- Tour Triple Drivers. 64 Audio - A3. Ultimate Ears - UE 7 Pros. I know the price ranges vary...but I want to buy what I'll be able to use for a while.
Ampless for about 5 years now. Best thing ever. The Porter & Davies tactile monitor with Ultimate Ears IEM's are a killer combination. And I’ve been running the Eich Bassboard for over the past year. I wouldn’t do an IEM only gig without it. I can’t recommend it enough (and I have probably a...

Try a few other affordable brands to see if your ears are comfortable with off the shelf units. I did, then do some searching here for the "KZ" brand of ear buds here on TB (available from Amazon). They cost around $50.
A couple of caveats. 1. Dial in your sound early and the lock it down. Otherwise every little change you make will effect every mix. If you need a bump in volume during the show, ideally the adjustment should be made on the aux (s) used for your monitor mix.
Feb 18, 2018. #3. I’ve gone IEM but still sub in with an act using powered wedges - and it’s a fairly loud rock band. In that situation, I take the line output from a wedge and feed it into a Behringer P1 unit and run wired IEM from that. That way, the band gets the monitor mix on stage and I get the same mix but in my ears.
Update: I bought an Ultimate Ears Pro Drive box off of reverb. "UE Pro Line Drive is a Line-Level signal buffer that can be connected to Line Outputs or Headphone Outputs. Line Drive is connected between the sound source and an in-ear monitor (IEM) and enables consistent audio fidelity." Battery operated with a belt clip.
