3,804. May 18, 2017. #22. Frangible ammo can cause damage to suppressors and certain muzzle devices, such as the Battlecomp. With the right ammo, the 5.56/223 will give good terminal performance from barrels as short as 10.5 inches at house defense ranges.
IMR 4064 is my go-to rifle powder for all my center fire rifles, .223, .243, .270, .308, 30-06, and a couple 30-30's. I got fed up trying this powder and that powder to gain a nickle worth of velocity.
Sep 24, 2017. #1. I'm planning the build for my son for an AR-15 and want to make sure in choosing a barrel, the match grade ammo available to us from local Turners store is covered as to twist rate. Ammo is: Federal 5.56 77gr. Federal Gold .223 77 gr. Federal Gold .223 69 gr. Am thinking I should get a Wylde chamber and twist of 1 in 8 or 1 in 7.
The longest one was a nice doe at 200 yards. The closest was 10 yards. With a rifle as accurate as the Swiss, if you do your job, it will put the bullet where it belongs. I use the 165 gr Hornady interlock stock number 3040 with 45gr of imr 4064. Very accurate in my rifle at just below 2600fps not a max load.
Central FL. Nov 2, 2016. #4. Twist is more important than barrel length when designing for a particular weight bullet IMO. The longest barrel in the world isn't going to stabilize a bullet if the twist is simply too low. But there are so many variables: in theory a longer barrel will build up more velocity and be able to stabilize a bullet that ...
So I'm slowly picking parts out for my first ar15 and had a couple questions. As I understand it the purpose of free floating handguards is primarily that your accuracy remains more consistent as the rifle heats up and resting the handguads on a surface when shooting doesn't cause shots to...
Jun 12, 2017. #3. mshootnit said: I wanted to give a brief accuracy review if you are considering a TC Compass. The rifle is TC brand made by Smith and Wesson. This is my first "budget" centerfire. Mine is a 243 Win. I scoped it with a VX3i 3.5-10X40. Rifle alone was $365 cash before tax.

Hey guys, Need some help. What would be the minimum that would be acceptable for a GA Black bear? Would 7.62 x 39 with 154 g be enough? I have other options, but would love to take the SKS out. Thanks for the help.
As someone whose shot long guns in 500/454/460 take it from me you may not be what y'all expected. Weaker 500 is tolerable but from a handi rifle full pressure loads quickly become unmanageable. We're talking scope caps flying off cannot keep ahold of the forend unmanageable. 460 is even...
