History of Kemah. Located on State Highway 146, Kemah overlooks Galveston Bay and is 25 miles northwest of Galveston in northeastern Galveston County. Originally known as "Evergreen," the community was established on the Texas and New Orleans Railroad circa 1898.
The Kemah Boardwalk offers several on-site parking lots, including a parking garage located at Bradford and Second Streets, gated lots between Bradford and Kipp Streets, and un-gated lots on Kipp Street.
