The Blackwell Inn is an upscale full-service hotel located on-campus at Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. It is located adjacent to The Max M. Fisher College of Business. The Blackwell Inn is named after Roger Blackwell, a marketing professor who pledged $7 million to the university in 2001. [1]
The building was designed by local architect Harold Schofield with inspiration from the Prairie School of architecture, and is one of few remaining commercial buildings in Columbus of its kind. Today, the hotel is independently operated, and has 19 rooms and 3 suites. The hotel was completed in 1959, operating for decades in prosperity.
This third hotel opened in August 1925, in a celebration that included a dinner and dance for 770 investors and leading residents. It was a large building, twice as large as Columbus's second-largest hotel. The third hotel building closed in 1980 to make way for the Huntington Center. [1]
