Terrell Hills is a suburban community off the Old Austin Highway five miles northeast of downtown San Antonio in central Bexar County. The community was named for Frederick Terrell, who promoted the area as a residential addition in the late 1920s.

The Terrell Hills City Council is comprised of an elected Mayor and four council members, all of whom are chosen at large. Terms are for a period of two years with the Mayor and Council Places One and Two being elected in even years. Places Three and Four are elected odd years.
The Terrell Hills Police Department is comprised of 15 certified police officers and 1 reserve officer who work cooperatively within our community to assure Terrell Hills remains a safe and pleasant place to live, work and visit.
