All Grown Up! is an American animated television series developed by Kate Boutilier, Eryk Casemiro, and Monica Piper for Nickelodeon. It serves as a sequel to Rugrats , and explores the daily lives of protagonist Tommy Pickles , his little brother Dil and his childhood friends, now tweens / adolescents .
Before the series began production, an hour-long episode of Rugrats entitled "All Growed Up" was aired in 2001 as the franchise's 10th anniversary special. [1] Following its ratings success, [2] Nickelodeon would pick-up a spin-off series in 2002 based on the special. [3]
"All Growed Up" is a special episode of Rugrats and the pilot episode to the spin-off series All Grown Up! that aired on July 21, 2001, on Nickelodeon, to celebrate the series' tenth anniversary. The special serves as the 13th and 14th episodes of the seventh season of Rugrats , and the 143rd and 144th episodes of the series overall.
The fiftieth — and truly final — episode of Season 3 opens with Bluey asking mom Chilli (Melanie Zanetti) whether she'll have kids when she grows up, and what it's like having children.
On January 18, 1999, it was surpassed by the sixth-season episodes "Chuckie's Duckling" and "A Dog's Life", all of which earned a 13.8 Nielsen rating. [48] On July 21, 2001, the series' special " All Growed Up " became Nickelodeon's highest-rated program among kids 2-11, earning a Nielsen rating of 20.4 with a 70% share. [ 49 ]
The final episode aired on August 1, 2004, [5] bringing the series to a total of 172 episodes and 9 seasons during a 13-year run. On July 21, 2001, Nickelodeon broadcast the made-for-TV special " All Growed Up " in celebration of the series' 10th anniversary.
