This article lists orbital and suborbital launches planned for the second half of the year 2024, including launches planned for 2024 without a specific launch date. For all other spaceflight activities, see 2024 in spaceflight. For launches in the first half of 2024, see List of spaceflight launches in January–June 2024.
The launch was originally scheduled for December 2020, [2] then in December 2021, [3] but it was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. [2] The flight plan was finally ready by April 2022 [ 4 ] and the launch is expected to take place in early 2025, [ 5 ] after the TV-D1 , TV-D2, TV-D3 and TV-D4. [ 6 ]
China plans to launch Chang'e 7 to explore the lunar south pole in late 2026. [3] The mission will include an orbiter, a relay satellite, a lander, a rover, and a mini-flying probe. [4] China also plans to launch Xuntian, a large space telescope that will co-orbit with the Tiangong space station, in 2026.
On 1 October 2024, ISRO announced the dates of the mission. The launch date was set to 29 March 2028. The spacecraft will journey towards Venus for 112 days, thus reaching the Venusian orbit on 19 July 2028. The Venusian atmospheric insertion date is yet to be announced. [4]
Ending the year with the launch of PSLVC-60 on December 30 2024, ISRO launched the SpaDeX mission, which aims to prove the organization's docking technology. [68] This technology is crucial for ISRO's upcoming Gaganyaan Human Spaceflight Program and the Chandrayaan-4 lunar sample return project.
