DR1 (DR Et) is the flagship television channel of the Danish Broadcasting Corporation (DR).It became Denmark's first television station when it began broadcasting in 1951 – at first only for an hour a day, three times a week.

The official launch was at midnight on 1 November 2009, when analogue broadcasts ceased nationwide. [1] [2] As of June 2020, five national multiplexes are available. [3] MUX 1 is owned by DR but operated by Cibicom A/S. They broadcast free-to-air channels only. MUX 2 - 5 are owned and operated by Norlys broadcasting encrypted pay-TV only. [4]
DR TV is an internet streaming catch-up television service for people in Denmark, made by Danish Broadcasting Corporation (DR). The service is available on a wide range of devices, including mobile phones and tablets, personal computers, and smart televisions. The service was formerly called DR Nu, but was relaunched on 2 June 2014 as DR TV. [1]
On 4 April 2004, TV Danmark 1 became Kanal 5. TV Danmark was renamed Kanal 4 on 3 April 2006 and left the terrestrial network on 1 January 2007. It was replaced by SBS Net, owned by the same company. As both DR and TV 2 are owned by the state, the state-owned broadcasters have a relatively high viewing share, by European standards.
