This list of electoral wards in Gwynedd includes council wards which elect (or have elected) councillors to the local authorities in the county of Gwynedd, Wales. Gwynedd was created with the merger of Anglesey with Caernarfonshire and Merionethshire in 1974, led by Gwynedd County Council.
Gwynedd Council, which calls itself by its Welsh name Cyngor Gwynedd, is the governing body for the county of Gwynedd, one of the principal areas of Wales. The council administrates internally using the Welsh language .
On the 25 May 2016, Leanne Wood announced her Shadow Cabinet. She appointed Adam Price as Shadow Minister for Business, Economy and Finance, Llyr Gruffydd to the role of Shadow Minister for Education, Rhun ap Iorwerth to the role of Shadow Minister for Health and Dafydd Elis-Thomas as Government Liaison and also responsibility for the then in development Wales Bill.
The 2017 Gwynedd Council election took place on 4 May 2017 to elect members of Gwynedd Council in Wales. [1] Seventy five council seats were up for re-election. In twenty one seats, the candidates were elected unopposed. The Gwynedd election was on the same day as other 2017 Welsh local elections.
Three constituencies cover the preserved county of Gwynedd for the House of Commons of the UK Parliament (Westminster), and are used also for elections to the Senedd. The current boundaries have been effective since the 2007 National Assembly for Wales election and the 2010 United Kingdom general election. [1] [n 1].
Between 2010 and 2012 she was responsible for the authority's finance portfolio. Between 2012 and 2014 she was Cabinet Member for Education, lead on children and young people, and was deputy leader of the Council. In 2014, she was appointed Gwynedd Small Business Champion, responsible for promoting this sector of the economy in Gwynedd. [5]
