Jeanette Brill (née Goodman) (June 15, 1888 – March 30, 1964) was a Jewish-American lawyer and magistrate from Brooklyn. She was the first woman to serve as Deputy Attorney General of New York and the first woman magistrate in Brooklyn.
The branch was founded in 1910 and initially occupied several storefronts. The Kings Highway branch moved to its current location in 1954, designed by architects Knapp and Johnson and constructed by the Department of Public Works in 1954. It was the first branch library to be erected in Brooklyn by the City of New York. [6]

In 1906, the New York City Board of Estimate designated $10,000 for the library's collection. The branch library's opening on July 15, 1907, was attended by 2,000 visitors.
