The College Council enjoys a special status in Hong Kong, in that it is a statutory body incorporated by a local ordinance, the St. Paul's College Council Incorporation Ordinance (Cap 1102, Laws of Hong Kong). The aim of the college is to "provide a liberal education to Chinese youths in the English language upon Christian principles.".
The college was founded in 1915 as St. Paul's Girls' College (聖保羅女書院) by the Hong Kong Anglican Church. [2] The school's motto is Faith, Hope and Love, derived from 1 Corinthians 13 of the Bible. In 1918, the College was the first school in Hong Kong to require students to wear school uniforms.

St. Paul's Convent School (SPCS, Chinese: 聖保祿學校) is a private Catholic girls' school in Hong Kong founded by the Sisters of St. Paul de Chartres from France in 1854. The school was formerly called French Convent School and was renamed St. Paul's Convent School in 1955. [2] It ranks third among all secondary schools in Hong Kong (2022).
St. Paul's Secondary School was founded in 1960 by the Sisters of St. Paul of Chartres as an extension of St. Paul's Convent School to meet the growing needs of science education of girls in Hong Kong at secondary and matriculation levels. Its former principal, Damian Lai, retired in 2006.
