Chuck Dixon's earliest comics work was writing Evangeline for Comico Comics in 1984 and then for First Comics. Writing under the name "Charles Dixon", he would eventually take over the lead feature of Conan on a semi-regular basis.
Team 7 debuted in a self-titled four-issue limited series, published in 1994–95. Writer Brandon Choi remarked on this mini-series that "I really enjoyed [writer] Chuck Dixon's portrayal of the team members, especially Cole.
