"I Love to Boogie" is a song by English rock band T. Rex. It was recorded in May 1976 and released as a single in June by record label EMI. It later appeared on T. Rex's final studio album, 1977's Dandy in the Underworld. Its B-side, "Baby Boomerang", was taken from an earlier T. Rex album, The Slider (1972).
To promote the single, T. Rex appeared on Get It Together to perform the song. It was filmed in the TV studio on 22 June and broadcast on 29 June. [1] [17] The band also performed the song on Bolan's British TV series Marc. The episode featuring the performance was broadcast on 14 September 1977 and was the final one before Bolan's death. [17]
A Beard of Stars was the act's first album with the new lineup and featured Bolan on vocals, guitar, organ and bass with Finn on percussion and bass. It is notable for being the first album on which Bolan played an electric guitar, although that instrument had first appeared on the band's 1969 single "King of the Rumbling Spires" / "Do You Remember".
The album consists of outtakes and demos recorded by Bolan in 1966. Some of the songs would later be recorded by Bolan's band, Tyrannosaurus Rex. Most of these tracks have also been released in their original form on the album, The Beginning of Doves (1974). In 1981, backing instrumentals were recorded and added to Bolan's original recordings.
