Minecraft Live is an interactive livestream about the video game Minecraft, hosted annually by developer Mojang.Originally starting out as an in-person fan convention called MinecraftCon (later Minecon [a] [b]), the first gathering was in 2010; the event reoccurred annually until 2016 under the name Minecon.
Minecraft is a media franchise developed from and centered around the video game of the same name.Developed by Mojang Studios (formerly known as Mojang AB) and Xbox Game Studios, which are owned by Microsoft Corporation, the franchise consists of five video games, along with various books, merchandise, events, board games, and an upcoming theatrical film.

The Penny Arcade Expo is the largest gaming convention in the US, with over 70,000 attendees at both its East (Boston) and Prime (Seattle) events. Gen Con has an emphasis on RPGs and features events for RPGs, CCGs, miniatures and boardgames with 60,000+ unique attendees over four days in 2017. [2]

The original events were hosted at Newbury Racecourse in the United Kingdom from i5 to i33 when the venue was relocated to Stoneleigh Park for i34. [6] From i38 to i42 the event returned to Newbury. [7] The home of i43 to i50 events was The Telford International Centre [8] and from i51 to i55 it took place at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry.
The Yogscast team held their own panel at MineCon 2011, [3] [15] where they showcased some of the work of the Minecraft community. Following the event, the group came under fire from Minecraft creator Markus Persson, who stated that he would no longer work with the group, citing use of profanity and unprofessional behaviour. [16]
