An order of magnitude of time is usually a decimal prefix or decimal order-of-magnitude quantity together with a base unit of time, like a microsecond or a million years. In some cases, the order of magnitude may be implied (usually 1), like a "second" or "year". In other cases, the quantity name implies the base unit, like "century".

Spacetime diagram. The world line (yellow path) of a photon, which is at location x = 0 at time ct = 0. A spacetime diagram is a graphical illustration of locations in space at various times, especially in the special theory of relativity. Spacetime diagrams can show the geometry underlying phenomena like time dilation and length contraction ...
Time constant. In physics and engineering, the time constant, usually denoted by the Greek letter τ (tau), is the parameter characterizing the response to a step input of a first-order, linear time-invariant (LTI) system. [ 1 ][ note 1 ] The time constant is the main characteristic unit of a first-order LTI system. It gives speed of the response.
t. e. Metric time is the measure of time intervals using the metric system. The modern SI system defines the second as the base unit of time, and forms multiples and submultiples with metric prefixes such as kiloseconds and milliseconds. Other units of time – minute, hour, and day – are accepted for use with SI, but are not part of it.
SI units. A femtosecond is a unit of time in the International System of Units (SI) equal to 10 −15 or 1⁄1 000 000 000 000 000 of a second; that is, one quadrillionth, or one millionth of one billionth, of a second. [ 1 ] A femtosecond is to a second, as a second is to approximately 31.69 million years. For context, a ray of light travels ...
The space station is whizzing around Earth at about five miles per second (18,000 mph), according to NASA. That means time moves slower for the astronauts relative to people on the surface. Now ...
Symbol. s. The second (symbol: s) is a unit of time, historically defined as 1⁄86400 of a day – this factor derived from the division of the day first into 24 hours, then to 60 minutes and finally to 60 seconds each (24 × 60 × 60 = 86400). The current and formal definition in the International System of Units (SI) is more precise:
