A word of caution about the "Bicycle Blue Book". Announcement. The "Bicycle Blue Book", commonly abbreviated to BBB, is a recurring thing in comments on r/whichbike concerned with putting a number on the value of some used bike. Quite a few of us have long had issues with BBB being used to that end. Thanks mostly to u/guy1138 who wrote 90% of ...
BBB is extremely accurate as far as bicycle pricing is concerned. All their pricing data comes from actual sales. They sell thousands and thousands of bikes and scrape data from other bike sales transactions (ebay, pink bike, etc.). A lot of the confusion people seem to have comes from a few sources.

I can see where insurance companies would like their value guide for settling claims for stolen and wrecked bikes. I have referenced it as a buyer, knowing I was low balling the seller.
as for how accurate it is, it's pretty accurate. but, it can have trouble accounting for inflation. BBB is NOT a good source for the used bike price for majority of cases. It is however a good starting point consider the price. The value/price is purely based on the original price deducted by the age of bike on BBB.
Bicycle blue book is not a trustworthy source on values, they constantly undervalue bikes. And exist to resell bikes, not provide good pricing info like KBB for cars. Only real good way is to see what other comparable used bikes in your area are selling for.
For a while now, Schwinn has been known to make really low quality bikes for sale in department stores, which means that used ones are worth little, and so it may be too regional to have good prices for them. 14. Reply. Bicycles-Not-Bombs. • 1 yr. ago.
Short answer, no. Bicycle blue book is a fabricated pricelist. intended to advantage the buyer, specifically “trusted partners“ or bicycle retailers that have signed up to receive trade-in bicycles. BBB is a company started in 2011 that has no affiliation with Kelly’s blue book.
The company is based on a used bicycle shop located in San Jose, California. BicycleBlueBook is synonymous with Bicycle Blue Book, BBB, and Bicycle Outlet. There are basically 2 components to the company and all the reviews seem to focus on one of these two components: It serves as a source to place a value on used bicycles.
I hate BBB because of the scammy nature of their bike "value" guide. However, I've heard no complaints about their sales. If you're buying from BBB direct, the bike is likely in good condition and "as advertised". I would also cross shop Pro's Closet to get prices on comparable bikes.
