Huntington Drive is a major thoroughfare that begins in the Rose Hills community in Los Angeles, California and heads east/northeast to Irwindale, California. The street was named after railroad magnate Henry E. Huntington. It also served as one of the only thoroughfares between Los Angeles and Pasadena in the early 1900s.
In March 1886, Pasadena became the second incorporated municipality, after the city of Los Angeles, in Los Angeles County. In 1892, John H. Burnett of Galveston, Texas, visited Pasadena. After returning home, Burnett plotted a town along two bayous, with its similar lush vegetation, naming it Pasadena, after the California city. [5]
Development on the Prospect Park Tract began in 1904, and the first house was built there in 1906. J.C. Brainerd, Nyles Eaton, and John C. Bentz acquired the 32-acre parcel adjacent to a Los Angeles and Salt Lake Railroad spur. The land was divided into 64 lots along wide curved streets planted with camphor and palm trees.
