Scituate (/ ˈ s ɪ tʃ u eɪ t,-ɪ t / ⓘ) [2] is a census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Scituate in Plymouth County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 5,245 at the 2010 census.
It is a 56-acre (230,000 m 2) seaside recreation area located in Humarock (near Scituate) on Massachusetts' South Shore.Fourth Cliff is in a superb location, sitting high on a cliff at the end of a peninsula, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean on one side and the scenic North River on the other.
Cohasset is located on the "corner" of the South Shore, where greater Boston Harbor ends and Massachusetts Bay begins. The shore is rocky, with many small ledges and rocks lying offshore. Cohasset Cove and The Gulf provide a long portion of the border with Scituate, while Straits Pond divides Cohasset from neighboring Hull.
It is located off First Parish Road in Scituate Center, Massachusetts, United States. Built in 1902 to enclose a steel water tank, it is a major local landmark. The Scituate Water Company stopped using the tank in 1988. The tower is listed as both an American Water Landmark and in the National Register of Historic Places.
