City of Knowledge Islamic School is an Islamic K-12 school in Pomona, California. [1] [2] It was established in 1994, with 19 students, by Iraqi immigrants in the Los Angeles area who wanted to preserve Islamic customs among their youth. By 1998 the school had 150 students.
The school system is "an association of approximately 75 elementary, secondary, and high schools throughout the United States and the Caribbean Islands." The schools have been described by Zakiyyah Muhammad of the American Educational Research Association as "models of Islamic education that are achieving commendable results". [11] [9]
