The Ozark Mountain Daredevils are an American rock band formed in 1972 in Springfield, Missouri. They are most widely known for their singles " If You Wanna Get to Heaven " in 1974 and " Jackie Blue " in 1975.
Chowning sang the band’s first chart success “If You Wanna Get To Heaven” which was released on the band's first album, The Ozark Mountain Daredevils, in 1973. The Daredevils continue to perform with two of the original members, Michael "Supe" Granda and John Dillon; however Chowning no longer performs in concert with the band.
Born in Springfield, Missouri, Cash received his undergraduate education at the University of Missouri, where he was a member of the Zeta Phi chapter of Beta Theta Pi.He was a founding member of the Ozark Mountain Daredevils and, with the exception of a brief period away from the band in the early-1980s, remained an active member for over forty years.
