On 15 August 2019, the Chhattisgarh chief minister announced the creation of Chhattisgarh's 28th district, Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi, which would be carved out of Bilaspur district. [6] On 10 February 2020, the new district was inaugurated.

In 2008 delimitation, Mandirhasod Assembly constituency was merged into Arang. Currently most of the Naya Raipur comes under Arang constituency.
