To show the rulers again, simply check the “Ruler” box on the View tab. If you don’t use the vertical ruler that displays on the left side of the document space, but you want to show the horizontal ruler at the top of the document space, you can hide just the vertical ruler.

Click on the View tab on the top menu bar to change the ribbon. In the Views section, click on Print Layout. Within the Show section, click on Ruler so that a tick-mark appears inside the small square on the left. Word now displays the horizontal ruler above the text.
